* Colombia and Paraguay, guest artists
Tuesday, October 19.- With an investment of 2.5 million pesos and the participation of 50 artists from Colombia, Paraguay and Mexico, the seventh edition of the International Harp Festival will be held in Cancun this Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23. Harp Fest 2021.
At a press conference, Julián Aguilar Estrada, rector of the Technological University of Cancun, stressed the importance of this international event for our city, since “a society like ours needs to be energized through art and music… as a university it we are committed to a comprehensive education and our alliance with this festival is proof of that ”.
For his part, Julio González, director of Arpa Fest, thanked the support of the Technological University of Cancun, which said “this alliance allowed obtaining financial support from the Federal Secretary of Culture through the call for support to cultural and artistic festivals PROFEST, who allocated $ 497,080 pesos to our festival, which is used exclusively for the payment of fees for our artists.
Marcela Torres, director of the Cancun House of Culture, affirmed that Arpa Fest is the result of a history of tenacity. She highlighted the important work of independent cultural promoters and managers in our city and recognized that this festival “has created an audience for an instrument as important to popular culture as the harp. Thanks to Julio González and the international musicians that we have listened to in the last seven years, today we also know that the harp is also concert music ”.
This year the ArpaFest program will include, for two days, ten activities, between concerts and academic activities. It will start in the morning with “Concerts on your street”, on Friday through the main streets of Alfredo V. Bonfil and on Saturday of the Colonia Valle Verde.
At noon, conferences and concerts, a disc presentation and two workshops on the Veracruz harp will take place simultaneously, both at the Universidad Tecnológica de Cancún and at Casa de Cultura.
Each day, the activities will close with a great evening concert where the harpists will offer two concerts, the opening one at the Technological University of Cancun and the Closing one at the Parque de las Palapas, with the participation of 50 national and international artists.
All the activities of the International Harp Festival ArpaFest will be free and will have safety and hygiene measures, as well as healthy distance and mandatory use of face masks.
